Charlotte's Web

Charlotte's Web - E.B. White, Garth Williams, Rosemary Wells A rare example of a book that deserves the rather overused label of 'children's classic.' Charlotte's Web was first read out to me in my 4th grade teacher's buttery voice. The highlight of that year was our class puppet(tbh more carboard cut-out) production where I drew and voiced Charlotte! I was a prissy, grim-faced kid, but Wilbur's threat of slaughter and of course, Charlotte's ending, teared me up. It may seem slightly saccharine upon re-reading, but at then (and even now during certain moods) it hit a nerve. Templeton is a great comic-relief too. Highly recommended-for all ages.
